Saturday, 14th / Sunday, 15th June. Stapleford Steam, organised by Paul Worbey, Stapleford Miniature Railway, The Old Forge, Stapleford Near Melton, Leics, LE14 2SF. All proceeds are supporting LOROS, the local hospice. Celebrating 50 years of the SMR in its golden jubilee year, the event will feature a large collection of full size steam traction engines, steam lorries, road rollers in addition to various scale miniature versions, vintage tractors, cars and commercial vehicles and exhibits, plus G scale garden railway trade stalls and displays. Also 00 and N model railway suppliers. The line will have 5 locos in steam subject to mechanical failures. The SMR is a private volunteer restored and operated 101/4" line running a fleet of 5 one fifth scale live steam British and North American locos. The nearly 2 mile line runs through extensive parkland and is heavily engineered and recognised around the world as one of the finest examples. Only open twice per year to the general public on August BH weekend and in mid June. Hot and cold catering and licensed bar. Overnight weekend camping or caravanning available for the whole weekend. To book a camping pitch, exhibit a model or trade stall for the June 2008 event, please contact the event organiser (Paul Worbey). For further information, please visit our web site at www.fsmr.org.uk. Day admission £5 adults, £3 children and OAPs. Gates open at 10am.
